We offer the following services to keep your pets healthy:
Small Animals
While Dr. Knoell’s main focus is equine, she will occasionally see some other species on the road. This is typically on a case by case basis depending on the location and specifics of the situation. The other species that she will see are goats, sheep, pot belly pigs, cats, and dogs. She also will perform acupuncture on a variety of species so please reach out if you have any questions about this.
Equine
Horses and other equine patients require veterinarians who specialize in treating them so we are pleased to offer this service in Serving Hudson Valley area of NY and NJ and the surrounding communities.
Here at Knoellwood Equine, our veterinarians are able to take care of your prized horses and other equines, whether you show them, breed them, or just love them as pets. Our entire staff is dedicated to our equine patients so that they can have the very best life possible.
Acupuncture & Herbal Therapy
Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) is a system that has been used to treat animals for thousands of years. Dr. Knoell offers dry needling, Electro-Acupuncture, and Aqua-Acupuncture depending on each patient’s individual needs. Herbal therapy is typically recommended in addition to acupuncture to provide support or in some animals, in lieu of it. Dr. Knoell received her mixed animal acupuncture certificate from The Chi Institute (now Chi University) in Reddick, FL.
Equine Spinal Manipulation (Chiropractic)
Equine Spinal Medical Manipulation services are commonly referred to as “chiropractic” throughout the industry. Dr. Knoell earned her CVMMP at Chi University to provide equine chiropractic services in the area. Veterinary chiropractic is a great way to keep our equine athletes comfortable and moving in the best way that they can. Motion palpation and chiropractic exam can allow us to find areas of restriction and possibly pain/weakness.
Dentistry
Dentistry is an essential part of your horse’s comfort and well being. Dr. Knoell recommends that all horses, regardless of their job in life or retirement status, have dental exams every 6-12 months. This involves sedation, a speculum, and a bright light source to evaluate your horse’s teeth. There is so much more to your horse’s dental well being than simply taking down “sharp points.”
PEMF Therapy
PEMF stands for pulsed electro-magnetic field therapy. This is a low field magnetic stimulation that aims to help restore optimal cell functions. It improves circulation and supports the body’s natural process of self regulating.
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy
Dr. Knoell uses PulseVet which is a high-energy focused sound wave therapy system for animals. It is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that is used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve healing in a variety of conditions.
Radiographs & Ultrasound
Wireless X-ray and ultrasound are available so that Dr. Knoell can provide a wide range of diagnostics. She routinely works closely with farriers to provide baseline hoof x-rays as well as support for therapeutic shoeing.
Wellness Exams & Preventative Care
Wellness exams are the cornerstone of evaluating and monitoring your horse’s health and allow for us to take the time to holistically look at your horse, its environment, diet, parasite control plan, individual vaccine requirements, and potential diseases they may be predisposed to.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations based on AAEP guidelines and risk based assessments. Reach out to discuss your horse’s specific needs during a wellness visit.
Sports Medicine
Dr. Knoell works on a wide range of sports horses, including but not limited to jumpers, hunters, dressage horses, reiners, ranch riding horses, pleasure & trail riding horses, as well as paso finos. She also enjoys working on backyard and retired horses. Performance evaluations, lameness evaluation, pre-purchase evaluations, as well as joint injections are available.
